Does windows phone 8 emulator need internet connection for the run map base app?

how can we run map base app in my windows phone 8 Emulator its not running it display a blank map on my Screen is there need a internet connection in my Emulator ?
or its working with out internet
and When i Shared my local internet connection with my Emulator its Didn't run any of the app that i was created before (any of the simple application) which not base on the map and when i didn't connect internet to my Windows Phone 8 Emulator its run all the app just not run only the map base apps.
