Enterprise Search Center Results Display not in correct order

Hi,

I am facing an unusal issue in displaying results using Enterprise Search Center. All components are OOTB.

I have implemented it in multiple environments (and worked fine) but when deployed it in a LIVE environment, the results start to be displayed in different order (by relevance).

We have synced up the data in all environs.

Please find the scenarios in LIVE environ. All the below scenarios worked fine in all the lower environments.

Scenario I

When no scopes or query are selected/passed in LIVE - the results are displayed as expected - we can see the more relevant results on Page 1.

Query: ALL(searchterm)

Scenario 2

When a user defined scope is selected in LIVE, it suddenly start to display the results in a different order.

Query: ALL(searchterm) (scope:"myscope")

Issue

The problem is we want to make sure that the relevant results to be displayed on Page 1. The requirement is such that there are few user defined scopes to which the results should be limited to.

Worst part: Everything is working fine in lower environs and users have tesetd it there.

Appreciate any of your quick help.

Please let me know if any Central Admin changes/Webapp properties can alter the behaviour of search queries.

PS: We have checked and made sure that all the configurations are same as in LIVE.
