Need a simple HTML render and text access

I have some HTML documents that I want to render to a Windows form using a referenced style sheet, after which I want to select (highlight) some text and then use a context menu to invoke a text manipulation process. I have been trying to use the WebBrowser control but while I can access the selected text I cannot determine the offset of the selection from the start of the document, which I need to allow me to process the selection within context.

I think mshtml is the wrong tool for the job. I don't need bells and whistles, just some rendered text, and a means of processing a selection. Other than styling, all of the DOM related, client side features are not required.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or pointers. .... Alan
