How can I code the research bar in a pdf?

Hi,
So, I want to code the research bar in a pdf document in order to find different words in the text.
what I first thought of was to create a fonction which will locate the first letters in every words that may contain them. And then count the number of possible words.
But unfortunately, I've tried many different codes and was not able to achieve what I wanted.
So I'm here to ask for some help.

I tried to first scan the text to find the different occurrences but I wasn't able to put it in place.

Most, if not all, pdf readers already offer that feature. So what is different about what you are trying to do?
