Regioninfo rejects other cultures in C#

Good Day All

i am getting a Region info from RegionInfo like this


C#
info = new RegionInfo(culture.Alpha2);

For some reason this code fails on the following Countries or Cultrures gives me an error


"AX"
"Åland Islands"

"AS"
American Samoa

"Andorra"

and many More

and the Error is

{System.Globalization.CultureNotFoundException: Culture name AX is not supported.
Parameter name: name


and my function that brings all the countries is as below

I managed to get this working using CultureInfo and the ISO two-letter code:
C#
var culture = CultureInfo.GetCultureInfo("AX");
Console.WriteLine($"Culture: {culture}");

var region = new RegionInfo(culture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName);
Console.WriteLine($"Region: {region} / {region.CurrencyEnglishName}");

Bear in mind with the above that the value of culture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName is "ax", not "AX". Maybe there's an issue here of case-sensitivity?

According to the docs, case is not significant:
RegionInfo Class (System.Globalization) | Microsoft Docs[^]

On my system, new RegionInfo("AX") works as expected.
I suspect it's down to the computer your code is running on. In the CultureInfo documentation, there is a note:
CultureInfo Class (System.Globalization) | Microsoft Docs[^]:
Windows versions or service packs can change the available cultures.

This list[^] suggests that support for Åland Islands was added in Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016. If you're on an earlier OS, then it won't be supported.
