How do I implement service worker in codeigniter?

Hello, Can anyone please let me know is it possible to user Service workers in CodeIgniter, & if YES, how can I use it? Basically, I want to implement offline downloads functionality in a website.

What I have tried:

I've tried putting the service worker js file in my index.php page in views folder, but the registration fails everytime I run the page.
