read js tags and show them according to parameter passed

I have a xml file and i am accessing its element on my page by reading that xml file using javascript function. In the desc tag i have p1 and p2 tag and i want that this tags are shown according to the condition or parameter pass to javscript funct,for ex:
when x=1 is passed through parameter then para 1 is shown and if x=2 then para2 .........
