Guidelines for system configuration management

Hi,

I am involved in defining the system configuration management for one of my clients. Where can I get the process involved in system configuration management activities like disaster recovery, patch management etc. . I googled it, but couldn't find a good document on it.

Please let me know if you know any knowledge base article on SCM.
