What to do with existing installshield LE projects in VS2017?

VS2017

I have existing projects made with InstallShield Limited Edition.
InstallShield LE is not provided any more with VS 2017.
There is an add-on providing installer functionality, but it cannot import these old projects.
Any help (besides of creating the project new using the new add-in)?

What I have tried:

I installed the add-in and tried to open the old solution.
Got the message, "This project is incompatible with the current edition"

Solution 1

Only InstallShield is going to open up those older projects. You can get InstallShield Express from here[^]. Keep in mind, it's not free but a trial.

Thank you very much!

So I could use the trial to open the project and view the details - and rebuild it using e.g. "Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 Installer Projects" ([^]).

Sounds like a usable workaround.
