Thanks for your reply Gerry!

In view of your suggestion, I've added the following lines just before the ToyList.Clear() call:
foreach (var item in ToyList)
 {
    if (item.Data is BitmapImage img)
    {
        img.StreamSource.Dispose();
    }
}


Unfortunatly, the problem remains: there is no freeing up of those MemoryStream...
