Recently, on the Lounge, we've had language issue discussion from SuperLloyd, and Member 7989122; John Simmons is a member who often posts programming related topics with code on the Lounge.
I am not irritated by this, and I value greatly that the culture of CP is freedom over draconian rigor, but I do think (as I've said before) that content like that, which is often interesting, gets "submerged" in the Lounge spate, and, imho, that is a kind of loss for CP, since, if it went into the C# Language Forum, it would (possibly) contribute more, in the long term.
Can the folks with "Protector" status move the threads ? Should some members have the sanction to move the threads ? Am I making a mole-hill into a mud-pie ?

If more interesting topics are getting buried, maybe it's the other inane crap that gets posted in the Lounge that should be moved. This is a programmer's hangout fer christ's sake. i have face this issue so many time . while posting a question/query i am unable to post the code in "what i have tried" section as well as message section. it remain blank as i submit my query

Add the appropriate <pre> </pre> tags around your code. You can get auto generated tags by hovering over the code button at the top of the main window and selecting the language from the drop down. You can then cut and paste the tags into the "What I have tried" section and place them around your code.

Beyond the tag requirement, how are articles selected for the article competitions? Is there some sort of criteria used? Is it random? The reason I ask is because I submitted an article in May and another in September, and neither article was included in the respective competitions (that I can see, at least).

It is done by tags and by popularity (which I believe is based on votes and rating). I ran the the numbers again for the April C# competition and your WPF Wizard article is definitely on the list, but not as high as the ones that were entered into the competition.
The September competition we will be running next month.

Seems to me that articles submitted late in the month (or selection timeframe) don't really have much of a chance of qualifying, but okay.

We try to start the voting at least a week past the end of the month. That first week is really where the prime traffic comes from so it gives later posted articles a better chance.
Overall I think you're right. Awesome articles posted earlier in the month have a leg up on awesome articles posted later in the month (though we very frequently get articles from early and late in the month). But I don't see a way around that.
Just took a look at your CSV article's popularity ranking. It looks very, very promising to be a contender in September ...

Well, I was more curious that anything else. BTW, the article FAQ doesn't really explain how articles are selected for the competition (which is why this thread exists). Y'all might want to beef that up.

Cool. I have some additional questions.
0) As it sits for the September competition, there are currently six articles in the C# category, and two of them don't currently have any votes (and thus, a zero popularity). Is inclusion based on the N articles with the highest popularity in a given category? If so, does that mean an article can "fall out" of the competition if popularity goes down?
1) Is the number of entries limited to a maximum value? (This would make sense given that the number of articles submitted could be overwhelming from month to month).
2) Can an author have more than one article in a given category in the same month?
I'm not often in the competition (that I know of), so I'm simply curious about how it works.

1) Yup. No more than 10 per category. Many categories can't muster up enough entries to make it to 10 though.
2) No. They can have another article in another competition, however.

Those are just the latest articles with the tags associated with the competition. They aren't ranked or anything, just the latest newly posted articles (and possibly updates).
