I have an Access / VB application that displays images. The Access tables has a link to a picture in jpeg format. I want to outline an object on the displayed image using the mouse, then create and save the outline definition and a link to a another more detailed image of the outlined object. In other words, I would like to be able to drill down into the image to reveal increasing details. I need a method or tool for outlining the objects and creating the new links which would probably be stored in another table. There needs to be some way to specify the area on an image that can be clicked in order to do the drill down. I want to avoid having to use an external application such as ArcView. Neither the image nor the application window would be resized during application usage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hello everyone,
I'm using VB.NET 2002. I tried to make the ToolBar control on my form to use a transparent color as a BackColor:
me.mytoolbar.backcolor = color.transparent
however when it compiles it says that "Control does not support transparent colours."
I also though of this line of code:
SetStyle(ControlStyles.SupportsTransparentBackColor, True)
but, once again, this didn't help either. So, now i guess i need to find a way to override this BackColor property somehow and force Toolbar to accept transparent colour as a BackColor.
Any suggestions regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi all,
Does anybody know if it is possible for us mere mortals outside of Redmond to use the nifty grouping functions that the Windows Explorer list view has in Windows XP ? Any pointers to articles or tips on how to do it would be great.
For those who don't know, I mean the grouping it does where it sorts the files under headings labeled "Tiny", "Small", "Medium" and "Large".
What I would like to do is group action records under headings for "Overdue", "Due Today", "Due Tommorow" and "Due Next Week" etc.

You mean multiple work areas? I personally have never messed around with this, and the comctl32.ocx listview doesn't allow you to use them, and nor does the .NET one. There is an ActiveX listview [^]that does, though, at vbAccelerator. If you're doing .NET, I guess you'll have to use the ActiveX control, or start looking for a .NET control that does multiple work areas.

Please help. How do I show a form for user to enter information in the textbox, query a database, and finally drop the contents from textbox1 and the sql query to textbox2? I know how to drag and drop from one textbox to the next but I wasn't able to show a form and then query a database before the drop is finalized.

I have created a remoting server (.exe) in VB .net. Basically, the idea is to create a remoting server in .net and have a VB 6.0 client!
1. Is this an equivalent of activex exe(out-of-process server) in VB 6.0?
2. Can this be accessed from VB 6.0? How can this be done?
3. If the above is not possible, What is the alternative of activex exe in VB .net and how can i access it from VB 6.0 client?

in VB6 is very easy to make whit the control Winsock, get a book or in the VB6 help are documentations that help you, if want a source code that make that (Server-Client) send me and e-mail

Hi,
I need a report to print to a file rather then to the printer when a user clicks on the Print option for the report
I am using MS Access 2000. I have tried the dialog box thing but I would like it to happen with out the user knowing it. Is there a way when a report is "Printed" to send it to a file.
The reason for this is so that a PostScript file may be made, then from that PostScript file create a PDF file for Email.

If I understand you,
You can send the string using GET : http://www.m.com?MyString=data.
You can handle it in the server side by using QueryString :

Hello,
I have to store several individual pieces of information gained from database in corresponding nodes (in tag property) of a treeview.
eg.
node.text = dr.item("name")<br />

object.type = dr.item("type")<br />
object.subtype = dr.item("subtype")<br />
object.level = dr.item("level")<br />

node.tag = object
The most convenient datastructures seem to me to be either structures or class objects.
Structures are a bit easier to handle, as they have no to be instantiated each time information has to be stored in a node.
I would be interessted in the best way to do for small amount and for huge amount of treenodes.
What is more favorable concerning speed and memory consumption : structures or class objects?

Because structures are value types, and because the tag property is that of Object, the structure must be boxed and unboxed as it is assigned and read, thus incurring some overhead. Performance testing would be necessary to see if the overhead is onerous.

Is there a difference, where objects of type class and structures are stored in memory internally ? I heard something about heap, stack , .... What would be the consequences of this objects stored at different places in memory concerning speed , memory consupmtion, overhead? Can anybody help?

I consider myself a pretty good classic ASP developer, and in an attempt to break into the .NET world, I have downloaded a sample application from Code Project called CodeBank (http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/codebank.asp?target=codebank[^]), and I'm having difficulty getting it running.
I have follwed the authors instructions (such as creating a new SQL 2000 dB and restoring from the supplied .bak file and creating various IIS virtual directories), and am getting a Parser Error returned from IIS. Seems to be when it gets to the "inherits" part of the code, because if I remove this, it works (partially, and then falls over somewhere else!) <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="codebank._default" %>.
The error returned when going to the main page of this project is:

Ok, does anyone out there know why the ComboBox in .NET Highlights the Text in the Edit area when the Control is resized at Runtime (i.e. when it is Anchored Top, Left, and Right)? This is VERY annoying! Especially when the Control is disabled and it looks Highlighted!!! I'm tried Combo.Refresh and maybe other SubClassing techniques which don't work at all! ARGHHH!

The problem is if the name of the object is product generally I must crate the object:

But I want that the name of the class must be pass as string and the object must be create by the string value es.:
