They are referencing a particular library but didn't provide any information on what library it is. There is also no code provided. Just a "I used these functions and it gave the right data"...

What I want to say that this sort of stuff doesn't disturbs anyone, since:
0. It is in their Bio
1. They have a strong personal connection to it
2. Many members have links to their latest article, blog, book, etc. in their signature.

How is this any different to people who link to their companies in their bios? This has long been accepted to be within the spirit of the site - our own Mr Maunder has even gone as far as to suggest this to people who were putting stuff in their messages. Plus, as has been pointed out, would this not drag in the likes of Nish and Marc? The rules have to be applied to all - or none.

I think that Manfred feels bad because the Link goes directly to the Amazon page.
Whatsoever, as previously this would also outlaw Christopher Duncan, who has links to his own homepage in his bio (where he sells the books, so no difference to the amazon page).
In the end, the discussion is meaningless if the Big Boss has already approved links to commercial sales in the Member's Bio.
Furthermore, and to defend them who actively practice putting sale links in their Bio, most of them use the full URL (and not some shady shortener service as bit.ly is) - People who click the link will now where they are taken.
We need to differ between abusive stuff and sales stuff when it comes to Member profiles.
