dim a as label
dim a as new label
dim a as new label()
Can I use a.text immediately after one of the 3 dim ways?
Or should I have to add a line "a=new label" before using a.text in the first dim way"dim a as label"?
I hope you know my means.
Thanks.

After the first "dim", a is still nothing so you can't use a.text immediately. You can do so after the other two "dims", however. The recommended way is:
dim a as label = new label()
which is equivalent to the second and the third dim.

But in fact,I see such dim :
dim form1 as form2(form2 is an user-defined class)
and the app uses "form1.param1"(param1 is also defined in class form2) immediately, not use new pointer first.

Does anyone know how to use the post method to get through two urls to screen scrape information from the second url?
ie - i need to post some values to get to the first url. Then to get to the second url i need to post a second set of values. It's the second url where i need to screen scrape information from. (Note i need to go through the first url in order to get to the second one)
I can get it going in VB6 but not .NET.
Any code, help or suggestions would be truly appreciated.

Here's[^] an MFC article that might point you in the right direction. I've used WebResourceProvider to do exactly what you want to do.

Actually it was the "web scraping" thing that caught my eye at the home page. When I clicked the link I realized I'd enter the black hole.

Are you trying to press enter in the textbox and have your form post-back to the server? I'm sorry, I didn't understand the question.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to be able to use the default system icons? I set up a Toolbar and an ImageList, and wanted to be able to use the default Windows icons for new file, save, save all, etc. I know the default icons are stored in shell32.dll, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated!

I have a program called IconView which can extract icons from shell32.dll . I can't remember where i downloaded it from. If you want it, I can e-mail it to you.

Hi all
This is my first post in this forum
Just a small question. Say test = Boolean.
In C# i can do if (test) to do an if.
Can I do If test Then this in VB.NET? Does it have same function? I cant test this as it is part of code generation, but it does compile fine
A simple yes/no appreciated
Cheers

Sure you can do it...
Private Sub cmdTrue_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdTrue.Click
BoolTest(True)
End Sub
Private Sub cmdFalse_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdFalse.Click
BoolTest(False)
End Sub
Private Sub BoolTest(ByVal testValue As Boolean)
If (testValue) Then
MessageBox.Show("True!")
Else
MessageBox.Show("False!")
End If
End Sub
Does what I expect it to do...

Yes, without the parems is fine.. That's just the style I became used to using.

I have this VB app. When I use my exit-button to close it down everything is fine, but when I use the X-button in the top right corner, the window disappears, but leaves a process running.
How do I fix this?
Cheers,
