scenario:
I have a Sql Server in Rome and a shared server dir (with the access database)
on a Server in New York.
I have permission on sever dir and databse.
The database table on sql Server have exactlly the same structure of Access
table database. (the table on Sql Server have 200.000 records and 48 columns).
Now i want to recopy all records from Rome(sql server) to NewYork (Access
database).
Wath is the best way in terms of time to recopy all records fom sql server to
access database.
note:
I want to use in my app the ADO drive and vb6 classic.
naturally other way are welcome

Replication is done over SQL Server, and it doesn't speak VB6, only SQL. You should be able to talk to your Access-database using VB6 and ADO without any problems.
Alternatively, you could write some code in VB6 to do the import manually; creating an ADODB.Connection to SQL and writing it in your Access database. I'm going to guess that that's the code that you're interested in?

SQL Server and Microsoft Access don't store their data in "exactly" the same way. Moving 200k records takes time. How long did it take?
Replicating to a linked server is the easy and painless way. Yes, it's possible to do it manually. Yes, you can read the data from SQL Server, and update it in Microsoft Access. That it's possible doesn't make it a good idea though.
Do you only need a read-only copy, or is it required to update the SQL Server-data with the changes in the Access-database? If you're satisfied with a read-only copy, then you could simply copy each table into an empty Access database. Should indeed be faster than replication.
Your best option would then be to execute an select into or something similar, from your SQL Server into your linked server. That would at least be a lot easier than reading data from connection 1 and writing it into connection 2.

Two questions from a VB.Net beginner:
1. How can I center text in a table cell in a Word document that I have created with VB.Net?
2. How can I make the first row of my table repeat at the top of each page on which the table carries over?
I can't find the methods in visual basic for either action.

oTable.Rows(1).HeadingFormat = True
I needed to place the above after the with that applied a style (Contemporary) to the table.
oTable is obviously the table object.
I found it very difficult to find these answers.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me with the error I am getting when I try and run my application in VB 2008.
"Form1.vb cannot be modified at this time"
I have tried Tools/Option/Build and Run/ Don't save any changes.
This does not work and I would want the choice to save changes everytime I run my app.
When I put say a button on the form the first time, it works. If I add another say button then that is when I get the problem. Basically adding anything to a form gets the error.

Does this happen the first time you run your app or only after that?

It happens when I change something on the form i.e. works first time but if I change anything, I get the error.

The same thing happened to me.
It seems to be a problem with VS itself and not your app or system.
Try to reinstall VS, and apply any and all updates.
Its a long way but, it fixed my problem.

I tried re-installing but get the same error.
I do have problems updating the SP1. Maybe if I can get this loaded then it should solve my problem.

This may help, when I save before running, it works. No use as I want to run my app before saving changes.

Maybe it's something there.
And also check that your IDE is "Stopped" before you try to change anything.

I have written no code yet. I have just installed VS 2008 onto my PC. I put a button onto a form, pressed F5. It worked. I then put another button onto the same form and tried to run. I got the error. I then saved everything, it worked.
I am also having problems installing SP 1.

Everything seems to have stopped execution but maybe there is something running in the background that I am not aware off. It points to that sort of problem. I can add new button etc so I thought the execution was complete but it must be hanging onto something.
Is there a way of finding out or some setting I can change?

Yes, you've answered it.
The process that runs is called vbexpress.exe (For VS2008 Express)
The proces that "Hosts" your app is called "SolutionName.vshost.exe"
It stays in the memory even if the IDE is stopped, so i don't think that is your problem.
When VS first runs an app without you saving it, it creates files, maybe those files are set to read-only by defualt?
And then when you save they are overwritten.
Also does this only happen in GUI progeramming?
What about Console Apps, and Library Files?

I have tried this with VS 2005/2003 and do not get this problem. I also have run this in administrator mode even my rights are admin so I should be permitted to do everything.
I have checked the file are their attributes are not read only. At the moment I am only developing GUI.

Well, i'm sorry i can't seem to figure out your problem.
I tried to google it as well but only came up with: "the designer is currently in read-only mode"
Maybe you should try to contact VS support? It may be a problem only relevent to your computer system.
Sorry that i can't be of any more assistance.
Someone else (prefferable more experianced than me) HELP OVER HERE!!

Hi,
I found a workaround. If you run the app from the code viewer then it works. If you run the app from View designer then you get the message.
I am just going to go with running app in code viewer for the present time.
I also managed to install SP 1 but it made no difference.
