Thanks for the response.
Please confirm the include and iframe sequence which are being used in the main page.
The page has 4 tabs, which are used to call 4 different pages.
Response.buffer=false
For case 1 to 5
Case 1 then include page 1 and activate the tab (by display: none)
Case 2 then include page 2 and activate the tab (by display: none) etc
Page 1 has
3 include pages
4 iframes and each iframe has one page
for ex. loadme frames src is a dds.asp?id=10
the dds.asp has response.buffer= true and response.flush()
Yes, the sp are not taking too much time. it will take from 40 sec to 70 sec.
Please look into the above sequence and correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks,

Why are you turning off buffering? Normally there is no reason to do that.
Still, there is nothing in what you describe that should take 40 seconds to execute.
Is it the page containing the iframes that takes time to load, or the contents of the iframes?

You should start by identifying what part of your code it is that is taking time. Nothing of what you mentioned gives any clue to any performance problems.

Yes,
I have added 4 iFrames also in that page & that pages also have some SPs
I m not able to find out that part which is takin time..
Thanks,

Add some timing code round all the SPs and any other logic thats pretty intensive. Try loading the iframes seperately and see how they cope, although the page should load before the iframes so I imagine they won't make a difference. Failing all that, ditch ASP, it sucks plain and simple.

Hi all,
I have a datagrid with Button column select in form of hyperlink. On the same page, I have another datagrid that insert data and one column(Name) has Names of a user that is inserting data(using windows authentication).
Now this is how it's supposed to work: When any user want to see data about a particular user it's a matter of selecting his name and the data Writen by the selected user should be the only ones to be shown.
I got some examples on Google but they all seem not to be working. When a user is selected the page remains the same data is not selected. How would can I solve this problem?
My code looks like this:
HTML part:
<Columns>
<asp:ButtonColumn HeaderText="Operations" DataTextField="TeamOperation" ButtonType="LinkButton"></asp:ButtonColumn>
</Columns>
and code behind:
private void dgoperation_ItemCommand(object source, System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs e)
{
SqlCommand myCommand=new SqlCommand();
myCommand.Connection=con;
myCommand.CommandText="select * from dbo.DashBoard where Name = @Billing";
myCommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Billing",SqlDbType.VarChar,50));
myCommand.Parameters["@Billing"].Value= dgbilling;
SqlDataAdapter myAdapter=new SqlDataAdapter(myCommand);
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
myAdapter.Fill(ds);
dgis.DataSource=ds;
dgis.EditItemIndex = -1;
dgis.DataBind();
}
dgis: this is the datagrid that where user inserts data.
dgbilling: this is the datagrid with the name list.
Thanks.

I have corrected my statement and this time I'm getting this error:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
And the error source:
Line 219: myCommand.CommandText="select * from dbo.DashBoard where
Name Like @Billing";
Line 220: myCommand.Parameters.Add(new
SqlParameter("@Billing",SqlDbType.VarChar,50));
Line 221: myCommand.Parameters["@Billing"].Value= bc.Text;
Line 222: SqlDataAdapter myAdapter=new SqlDataAdapter(myCommand);
Line 223: DataSet ds = new DataSet();
This is my code:
<Columns>
<asp:ButtonColumn HeaderText="Operations"
DataTextField="TeamOperation" ButtonType="LinkButton"
CommandName="Select"></asp:ButtonColumn>
</Columns>
My code behind:
private void dgoperation_ItemCommand(object source,
System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs e)
{
System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton bc=new
System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton();
bc=(System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton)e.Item.Cells[0].FindControl("TeamBilling");
SqlCommand myCommand=new SqlCommand();
myCommand.Connection=con;
myCommand.CommandText="select * from dbo.DashBoard where Name Like
@Billing";
myCommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Billing",SqlDbType.VarChar,
50));
myCommand.Parameters["@Billing"].Value= bc.Text;
SqlDataAdapter myAdapter=new SqlDataAdapter(myCommand);
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
myAdapter.Fill(ds);
dgis.DataSource=ds;
dgis.EditItemIndex = -1;
dgis.DataBind();
}
How can I solve this?
Thanks

It is difficult to give you any advice on how to build your web site when you give no information on what your web sites purpose is and what function it serves.
Things like does a user have to log in?
Is part of the site public so anyone can see it?
Is part of the site privite so only logged in users can see it?
Is the site in asp.net 2.0?
Do you need a database to store information?
Do you have only static content?
We really can't give you much help without asking a specific question.

Hi,
I want to test my website on different browsers, and I am not 100% sure how to go about it. I have the lastest IE7, but how do I get IE 5 and 6 on my machine again? Is version IE4 or less necessary to test with??
What about other browsers, especially the Mac browsers, how do I test my website on this Mac browser? I don't have a Mac machine.
Please can someone get back to me soonest.
Regards

To get different versions of IE on the same machine, I'm pretty sure you'll have to setup Virtual PC images.
I don't know about the mac browser.

Multiple IE - this will allow you to run several version of IE on the same machine. Note that there are some limitations since they're not strictly the whole IE engine but if its the rendering your most interested in then they work fine.
Unless you have a pressing need I wouldn't test below IE6, certainly not below IE5.5. You should also test with Firefox 2 (well actually you would be better off developing with this in the first place!) and Opera 9. Mac browsers, unless you have access to a mac your a bit stuck for your own PC, but there are a couple of free sites out there that can take a screenshot with a mac browser. browsershots.org is one I use frequently but they don't always have a mac running and it can take some time to get processed.

browsrcamp.com[^]
They have a free service that will generate a screen shot of your page as rendered on a Safari browser.
They have a paid service to do testing on a more extensive list of browsers.

What are you using to write your site ? I assume not ASP.NET ? By javascript, do you mean AJAX ? If not, how do you intend for javascript to be involved ?

Hi graus,
i am new to web programming, i am creating a personal website
using simple HTML and Java script for form validation.
can you please help me to put up survey/ poll forms
on a windows web server.
i do not like to use ASP.Net.
thanks and regards

To make a survey, you need somewhere to store the result, and Javascript doesn't really have any means of storing anything anywhere. You need to use some code on the server side that stores the information in a database of some kind.

Not using HTML and javascript, no

Why not ? You need to use *some* framework on the back end to talk to a database, and ASP.NET is your best option, as far as I can see. It makes what you want to do, very easy.

now the issue with it is that it just takes a single event
Meaning If i want to serach for "Weblogic" it will just take "W"
else if i write the searchg word "Weblogic" in Notepad and copy paste it works as the search box takes it a single event
PLease let me knw hw to resolve this issue

Do you mean that you only want to search by using the first letter of the search word?
Use the charAt method.
The only way to speed up a Macintosh computer is at 9.8 m/sec/sec.
