I am facing a bit of a problem with the IDs generated by the framework for HTML elements that exist within a user control or a web control that is added to the page dynamically.
The framework goes and creates some kind of hierarchy and adds prefixes to the IDs.
My question is how do you guys manage these when you want to create a unique CSS declaration for a specific element?
For example, if I have a user control that generates a contact form, and I want to give to a textbox that exists within that contact form a unique style.

Easy way: assign the controls classes and in the CSS use class selectors instead of id selectors
Hard way: emit CSS file dynamically using handlers

Yes, using class selectors is one of the solutions I have already thought.
There are cases though when you actually need to use ID selectors. Not many but there are some...
How about the dynamic CSS emition?
Could you please point me to more info about this technique?
Thanking you in advance.

Not exactly the same thing, but demonstrates the basic strategy. A simpler, but less elegant solution would be to just use inline CSS, added to the page at runtime as a LiteralControl, in this case you don't need custom handlers.

I'm sending a specially-formatted email to a UNIX system using System.Net.Mail through an Exchange relay server.
The entire message must be in plain text format, otherwise I see multiple instances of "=0D=0A" in all parts of the message (To, From, Subject and Body).
In classic ASP I turn off MIME using
With objMessage
.MimeFormatted = False
.BodyPart.ContentTransferEncoding = "base64"
Is there a similar means to turn off MIME in System.Net.Mail?
Thank you.

Did you code it properly.
I have done many Times. there is no error so for.
Let you paste your code we will check it out?
As per your Errors it shows nothing wrong in the functionality. seems you have missed semi-colon,colon, and the braces are different you have used.

I am inserting a row to the database through gridview, while doing this i placed an insert button in the footer of edit button column and textboxes to remaining columns the code works properly and a new roe is inserted in the database also.
The code is as fallows
protected void gv_rowcommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
if (e.CommandName == "insert")
{
connection = new SqlConnection("user id=sa;database=pubs;datasource=system2");
adapter1 = new SqlDataAdapter("Select * from jobdetails", connection);
ds = new DataSet();
adapter1.Fill(ds, "jobs");
rec = ds.Tables["jobs"].NewRow();
rec[0] = Convert.ToInt32(((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("TextBox4")).Text);
rec[1] = ((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("TextBox5")).Text;
rec[2] = Convert.ToInt32(((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("TextBox6")).Text);
rec[3] = Convert.ToInt32(((TextBox)GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("TextBox7")).Text);
ds.Tables["jobs"].Rows.Add(rec);
bldr = new SqlCommandBuilder(adapter1);
adapter1.Update(ds, "jobs");
BindData();
}
}

Please right click your mouse on your builded page and click Encoding and check whether it represent Western European(ISO). otherwise select it and then see it.

Hi all,
I have number of textboxes on a form and a submit button. the form allows the user to change existing data in the database.
when a textbox is modified, i need to capture the changes done by the user and update the collection i've used to populate the text boxes and then to use the updated collection to update the database.
How to trace which textbox value is changed.i need to update only the values changed.
Plz give suggestions..

I think one way is to crate a base class that drives TextBox class and implement OnTextChanged method in that class
<br />
public sealed class CustomTextBoxOnTextChanged : System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox<br />
{<br />
private bool isDirty = false;<br />
<br />
protected override void OnTextChanged(System.EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
base.OnTextChanged(e);<br />
<br />
isDirty = true;<br />
}<br />
}<br />
<br />
Thanks and Regards
