Moving files from one volume to another is not supported. You have to copy the file structure over, then go back and delete the originals.

Not our fault! Why should I send you code for free that cost me money to write?

Try using this
Directory.Move("SourceDirName", "destDirName")
I think this should solve your problem.

this will not work when you are moving the folders from one drive to another.
like
c:\abc to D:\abc

You can add a DirListBox and FileListBox to a form and set the visible property to False. These controls enumerate the folders and files on a computer. Use these controls to get the file names so that you can move them to the next drive creating folders as needed. If you don't want to add controls to your form and figure out how to use them, learn how to use the API functions FindFirstFile, FindNextFile, and FindClose in the kernel32 DLL. I can give you some examples on how to use these calls if you desire.

hello there
I have a document Management system where user can create the shortcut of any document and folders (same like windows).
Now the problem is I am picking the system icons for each file type. which makes a list of dynamic icons in my application.
now when user makes a short cut I need to show the same file icon but with an arrow sign on top of it to identify it a short cut. can any one guide me how to do this ?
remember I cannot make a specific list of icons as application can have *.* file types in it.

"can u send me sql query for updating a field in vb.net"
|

|
|
Hello!
Cant understand you clearly.........
First of all to tell u that u can use sql update statement for updateing
row(s) of table in a database and not in VB.NET.
Sql query for update is
" UPDATE tblNAME SET tblFIELD="FIELDVALUE" WHERE (condition) "
In vb.net you can use ADO.NET to interact with databases...
See articles on ADO.NET.

how can i update a table after deleting a field
thanks & regards

be careful with string datas. they must be rounded with simple quotes ( ' ) not "
moreover, i advise highly the use of parametered requests as ADO proposes....

hi all,
My application is in vb6 and CrystalReports8.5 (some designer reports) . Earlier i have Crystal Reports9. So i Uninstalled CrystalReports9 restarted machine installed Crystalreports8.5. But when try to open my project it could not able load designer reports. instead for my surprise a log file is creating for the files which is not opened. In that lines are like this
Line 2: Class {BD4B4E61-F7B8-11D0-964D-00A0C9273C2A} of control RptActiveCustomer was not a loaded control class.
Line 0: The file C:\AA_NCS\IndonCitiSafe\B_Development\Test@NCS\IFRoS\RptActiveCustomer.Dsr could not be loaded.
I have 13 designer reports for each file i found same message but .Dsr defers
Later i searched in forums whether i get some help, I got something from following link
http://www.codecomments.com/archive342-2005-4-449170.html
But it was not solved, problem still exists. Again i uninstalled crystalreports8.5 and reinstalled it again thinking .dll not installed properly.
So i ask eperts here to help to solve this version problem.
Thank you in advance

Were the reports created in CR9? Was the code written against CR9? If the anwer to EITHER of these questions is yes, then of course it won't work. The classes that your stuff depends on don't exist any more (they're version dependant). Since you uninstalled 9, you also uninstalled everything your code is looking for.

Hello all
I hope I'm in the right place
I’m newbie, to the programming world; I’m just starting with baby steps
I have a MS Access database that has 2 tables
Table 1: Store
Table 2: Payment
I built a form that display the information from the database
My form has 3 parts
Part1: list box (Binding to the Store Table) display Client Name when I select one the information about that client will be displayed in the Part2
Part2: Detail information (Binding to the Store Table)
Part3: Grid (Binding to Table Payment)
Running the Code: I can select client name from the list box and the information will be displayed in the but , the information (From Payment Table)will not change
The Question: what I need to do to make the information in the grid change and match my selection
Thanks a lot for your time and help

Ok I think I understand what you are trying to accomplish. You are trying to get the second grid to update based on the selction in your list box. If this is the case some steps need to be taken on the database side as well as the form side.
1. on the database side you need to have a Promary key field in the first table linked to a field in the second table. (i.e.
Store Payment
CustomerID----------------------CustomerID
Addr1 AccountNumber
Addr2 AccountBalance
Etc... etc....
What this does is allow you to pull queries based on CustomerID.
Now you have two choices.
1. You can pull the query programmatically
2. use StoredProcedure to pull query information
I have heard good and bad for both. In a small application I am not sure it will make that big of a difference.
Now once the SelectedIndexChanged event fires on your listbox you can pull a querie for the detailed information from tblStore and also fire the code or query to populate the grid with information from tblPayment based on CustomerID that was selected.
I hope this makes sense as I seem to ramble on at times.
Thanks,
Taen Karth

How can I set a Windows HotKey with my application installation?
For example when someone hits WIN+N opens Notepad.exe.

The small app that I am developing is a simple form with a tab control on it. The form currently performs the following:
On load it dynamically creates a TabPage and dynamically creates a RichTextBox inside that new TabPage.
Their is a menu option and a context choivce that will create a new TabPage with a new RichTextBox inside the same TabControl.
Here is the problem:
When I use the SaveDialog I can save the first Tab that was created but I cannot seem to save the other tabs that I dynamically create.
I think that the reason is that I use the same object names each time and I don't know how to differentiate between them. I have tried doing SelectedTab but then I don't know how to address a RichtextBox that is not there before runtime.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Taen Karth

Try the following:
For Each tabCtl As TabPage In TabControl1.TabPages
For Each ctl As Control In tabCtl.Controls
If TypeOf ctl Is RichTextBox Then
' Code to save the contents....
End If
Next
Next
Hope this helps.

That sounds perfect. I have no clue why I did not think of that. I did all variations except that...lol. I will try when I get home and let you know.

Excellent work. I was not able to use all of it as I did not want to save the text in a textboxes in all tabs rather only the selected tab. I was able to it as follows to save the text in only the selected tab.
'Declare private variables<br />
Dim strName As String = "NewNote"<br />
Dim sw As StreamWriter<br />
Dim FileName As String<br />
<br />
'Start Save As event<br />
Try<br />
For Each ctl As Control In TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls 'Find all controls on the selected tab page<br />
If TypeOf ctl Is RichTextBox Then 'Get the Rich Text Box<br />
'Start the SaveFile Dialog event<br />
With sfdSaveAs<br />
.FileName = strName<br />
If .ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then 'If user clicks save then...<br />
FileName = .FileName<br />
sw = New StreamWriter(FileName) 'New stream Writer<br />
sw.NewLine = ControlChars.NewLine 'Set StreamWriter's New line to the newline character<br />
sw.Write(ctl.Text) 'Write CTL which is RichTextBox in selected tab<br />
End If<br />
End With<br />
End If<br />
Next<br />
Catch es As Exception 'If there is an error<br />
MessageBox.Show("An error has been encountered. Please try again.")<br />
Finally<br />
If Not (sw Is Nothing) Then 'If there is nothing to write then close the streamwriter<br />
sw.Close()<br />
End If<br />
End Try
Thanks again,
Taen Karth

Looks good. I'm just glad to have been of some guidance.
What exactly are you building, if you don't mind my asking? I sounds like a Notepad substitute, if it is, I like the tabbed approach.
|
|
|
|
|
That is exactly what I am building. I work in a firm where I have to take lots of phnoe calls and remember lots of little side notes. I am using this to build a Notepad Substitute. Each new tab will have a time and date stamp on the top of the tab so that I know when I jotted in it. I will also be able to save each tab individually and set the opacity so that I can compare with stuff behind it without having to switch back and forth. I am using VS.NET 2005 Beta to develope it so You have to download the new .NET Framework 2.0.?? beta as well to run the apps. If you are interested I will send you the source so you can peruse it. I will put it up on some free site when I am done as well if you would rather wait.
Thanks again for the tips,
Taen Karth
