I think at the time I simply browse my favorite online shop for the desired spec...
(which is MWave btw.. or maybe this one is from UMart?)
Anyway, my current best of 2 (it has a better response time, though I couldn't tell, and came with what was an unfortunately short HDMI cable) is:
Viewsonic VA2719-2K 27inch IPS LED Monitor

Thanks. I will have a look to them

Not sure how you work, but even a laptop isn't a mere foot away.
I have a 40" 4K LG TV as my primary monitor. I use it at its native resolution, with no rescaling. At that size/resolution, text on it is a bit smaller than on the 1080p 27" monitor sitting next to it. I suspect that with 4K blown up to 55", text would be bigger than on the 27".

I use workspace matrix on Ubuntu. On this laptop ("social"), 4 wide by 1 high. Browser/Gedit for notes/Skype-Zoom-whatever/Terminal (command prompt) shared with Nautilus (file explorer)
"Work" laptop, external monitor logically and physically above. 6 desktops wide. Typically
Nautilus/secondary browser/IDE/primary browser/terminal/Thunderbird (w/calendar)
If I'm doing stuff that needs looking at two or more windows, I can drag things around very easily.
Ctrl-alt-left/right to navigate. add shift to drag the focussed window with you.
I find flipping desktops way easier than minimising/maximising/switching windows in a single workspace.
Also works really well doing meeting presentations, etc, on an external big screen. Line up the bits you want, flip through them as the show goes on.
Workspace matrix allows a 2D array, but I've never needed it, and I think the "where tf is that one?" would be distracting.
I "know" where things are in my linear setup, so I just flick to the one I want, almost never use the overview.
Cheers,
Peter

I use 'em on my laptops - just because of screen space - so I will have email and Teams one one, then 3 finger swipe to my IDE & another for the running program
Once I'm in multi-monitor world, I don't tend to use multiple desktops at all

Email and Internet on one, Virtual machines on another, miscellaneous stuff on 3rd (file explorer and such), only use 4th for senior moments (I have a file named "commands I wish I remembered"). If I need to see something on email while on another desktop, I drag the email program over temporarily. I mostly use them to separate virtual machines from the rest.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

Over Macho Grande.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande.
