To raise the tone of the discussion slightly: every time I read about GPT I recall an "issue" from the 1980s. I worked in offices next door to GEC, at the time they merged with Plessey. The new global business was called GEC Plessey Telecommunications, and went by the initials GPT. This was fine in the UK, but I heard from the staff that it caused a bit of a problem for the telephonists in their French offices. Global standards required the receptionists to answer the phone with the company name, "GPT - how may I help you" (and the French equivalent of course). The problem is that the initials GPT are pronounced in French as "jea pay tay" - which sounds very much like "j'ai pété" - "I have farted".
So I still think of that in any discussion of ChatGPT.

NO , THIS IS NOT A PROGRAMMING QUESTION ,just rant , so relax....
Why is almost every doc abut Bluetooth hang-up on stack and protocol ?
or how far it will work....
Why NOBODY ever mentions that
when you plug your Bluetooth device in , turn the power on etc.
AND you have a RUNNING Bluetooth host / server or whatever you wanna call it
on YOUR PC
the device you just activated WILL send a message / signal to YOUR PC
NOT THE other way around...
Is that a reason why the "example code " works exactly the opposite way
- it scans , from PC, for remote devices instead of listening for them...?
PS Plugging in USB device works SAME way...
but not every average bear knows that...

The whole point about bluetooth is that when a device is activated it will search for a partner to talk to. That is the basic idea, I assumed everyone understood that.

"Pairing" is a deliberate action ... it's not something that just "happens". I expect security has something to do with it. "Everyone knows that"; or at least doesn't consider it a problem. That's what "protocols" are all about.

Since this is a lounge I do not want to get too technical, but...
My first C++_ code example goes something like this
...find local (PC) Bluetooth adapters...
...find remote Bluetooth device and pair it to default adapter...
it does not specifically state
USE local adapter to find the remote...
start RF "server" etc...
My other C++ example does
...find local (PC) Bluetooth adapters...
start "RF communication"
"bind" RF communication to local adapter
make local adapter to listed for remote devices...
zip about pairing in this example
I guess the moral of the story
EVERYBODY KNOWS how it works
or if you are really "not everybody" you have to muddle thru the doc to find out.
Or ask here and be told that "everybody knows that..."
Next "advise" will be ... "RTFM"
Some "contributors " are pretty predictable....

nope, with the capitals, I suspect I know where you are. Welcome to development. Sucks to be you
Pick it up buttercup.
Hear me out. You are earning your stripes. Learn, document, keep it to become an expert. You'll get there. And along the way you are going to learn a few things:
1) people claiming to be experts aren't;
2) trust but verify
3) because a device has bluetooth doesn't mean it follows protocol - think evil over lord is messing with you
4) the documentation is not necessarily correct.
Over my years writing code and debugging, my biggest failing are assumptions. Just because the doc says it works this way has no bearing on the device or code. If it doesn't work, avoid shotgunning. Slow the f down and collect data. Then draw your conclusions.

Minor rant ... You post code as a solution, that only requires copying and pasting into a fresh project, then they say it does not work. Are they trying or doing what they think is better, not reading what you are writing... the code is not complicated.
Okay, rant over. Onto the next question.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

Only that they don't read the code you post and check what and where they put it.

I'm starting to reply with Google Drive links to a sample project so that they can see it work, not their interpretation of what is given.
