Microsoft warned customers this Tuesday to patch a critical TCP/IP remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability with an increased likelihood of exploitation that impacts all Windows systems using IPv6, which is enabled by default. Someone found a use for IPv6?

They probably should have said even less about this one and just tried to push/publicize "you want this patch yesterday".
RCE over basic network protocol that is everywhere? This thing could literally go off like a rocket fuel factory.
I assume industrial grade networking appliances have some bits in their firmware to detect and chuck malicious packets out a window. But that stuff probably still has to be updated unless it pulls definitions like virus scanners do.
