Check Point Research (CPR) has identified a critical zero-day spoofing attack exploiting Microsoft Internet Explorer on modern Windows 10/11 systems, despite the browser's retirement. Internet Explorer: the gift that keeps on giving

Technical decision-makers facing the challenge of migrating legacy systems from old .NET Framework 4.x WinForm apps face a common thread: whether to continue with traditional WinForms or something modern and promising, like .NET MAUI. One potato, two potato, three potato, four. Don't take my WinForms, or there will be war.
|
|
|
|
|
History repeats itself. Any new GUI framework has been abandoned, is not complete or is a fustercluck with no viable documentation.
WinForms always had our back, we all learnt how to work with its "features" and it requires very little surrounding architecture. It's time we have its back as well!

Error-correcting a quantum computer can mean processing 100TB every second. You need someone to actually do the work

100TB per second?
That's A LOT of cat videos... or not.

Advances in artificial intelligence are making it increasingly difficult to distinguish between uniquely human behaviors and those that can be replicated by machines. I can barely tell when I'm conscious

When the number of scam calls I receive drops precipitously, I'll assume consciousness has been achieved.

The answer to this question is "Yes, AIs will eventually become conscious." However, the current crop of "Artificial Intelligence" will never achieve consciousness and in fact show the sheer limits of our ability to create a true SADE (Self Aware Digital Entity)*

"AGI will get here very soon."
No it won't, but I'm too conscious to argue it with an IIT proponent.
The only reason to subscribe to such simplicity is so you can say "hey, it's conscious!"

A real AI... could be, I don't know.
What we now have it is not AI, so... nothing else than a clickbait and a bullsh1t bingo article.

The preview doesn't include much new major functionality or features, as Microsoft is nearing the final stages of .NET 9 development, which is scheduled for general availability in November. Get your latest preview while it's still fresh from the oven

Microsoft is reportedly having trouble getting some of the biggest names in tech to optimize their apps and add new features for 'AI PCs.' "I'm going off the rails on a crazy train"

That is very good news. I hope they have LOTs of trouble with that and I have zero interest in an "AI PC", regardless of who makes it.

According to Luca Casonato on Twitter, every Chromium-based browser leaks information about your computer to domains owned by Google. Google spying on people? Inconceivable!
Maybe it's honest and not a built-in monitor, but it's not like they deserve the benefit of a doubt.

I tend to wax a bit more conspiratorial/tinfoil-y about that.
Given historical information, it would be more surprising if at least some such things weren't directly the result of intelligence agencies kicking some cash and/or 'favors' their way if they'll build a better microphone.
