Veracode, provider of modern application security testing solutions, today released the results of the Veracode State of Software Security 2023 report, revealing that flaw build up overtime poses a real issue for many businesses. I'm sure if you look again, you'll see that's probably more like 100%

I think the software they used to determine this has a flaw - it can't count to 100%

So, 1 variable (and not even a really important one)... what about all other?
- Atmosphere composition
- Distance to sun
- Class of sun radiation
- Water presence

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?

Baby steps, I guess. All I get out of this is that the "fraction of stars that have planets" factor in the Drake equation seems to be quite high after all.
The "people talking to us" still does seem rather low.

This is a nascent trope in sci-fi that I absolutely love: Earthlings being shunned by the amazing galactic powers because we are violent barbarians until a Universe ending threat arrives and we are deemed as the last and only possible solution to fight it.
Also the trope of us earthlings being actual badasses who can survive an amputation and even keep fighting despite grievous wounds, breathing rocket fuel (oxygen), being the apex predator despite not having a single body part evovled for it with the exception of the front facing eyes.
I guess that after decades of being shown space elves being utterly superior to us seeing the opposite point of view is uplifting?

The Mars Society has been engaged in a simulated Mars mission in the US state of Utah since November, and Paro was along for the ride. It's all fun and games until you run out of robot fish to feed it

Put a ChatGPT program in it, and do that voice training thingy mentioned yesterday to make talk in Elon's voice. Then put reigns on it, have Elon himself ride on it, and drop it onto Mars like the ending of Dr. Strangelove.

Updates and deletes remove history that is often desirable to keep. It is not only possible but practical to write a database application that preserves that history. This idea brought to you by the Hard Drive Manufacturers Association

Everything should be date effective.
?Conjecture/Theorem?
Once the number of references to a non date effective table exceed 1000, a new use case will arise that requires that table to be date effective.

Since I often whine about Microsoft and their bugs it is time to give credit where it is due. They actually fixed one that had been really annoying me. A couple of revs ago they broke the Batch Build option so it would not retain its selections. That is now fixed in the 17.4.4 release and I am really, really glad to see it since I relied on it heavily. This version also improves support for handling multiple repositories in one solution. Thankfully, I have found no new issues with it.
This has been a very welcome update.
