Somehow I just don't see the egos running the Linux community implementing this proposed changed to better secure the Linux kernel.

Reddit gets access to OpenAI’s tech for building AI features, and OpenAI gets real-time access to Reddit posts that feed into ChatGPT. Now ChatGPT can tell you that you're an idiot and downvote you

About half a million customers of the Australian fund UniSuper were locked out of their accounts for a week Sometimes The Cloud brings the rain
"UniSuper had a backup account with another cloud provider" <-- I'm guessing that backup provider might just be the new primary provider.
From another story about it, "UniSuper, an Australian pension fund that manages $135 billion worth of funds and has 647,000 members, had its entire account wiped out at Google Cloud, including all its backups that were stored on the service."
Sure, this kind of thing happens when you host your own servers, but at least then you know who needs hitting with the fire hammer.

My favorite pong version is still YouTube: extreme-sheep-herding-with-led-lights[^]. The pong game is about halfway.
It is old (like most pong!), so the quality is bad. The herding is just as impressive as it was then!

It's amazing, and a little sad, to think that something created in 1989 that changed how people used and viewed the then-nascent Internet had nearly vanished by 2024. Great news if you're looking for something from the 80s

I wonder how much different it would read in a native tongue.
The bit I gathered skimming is almost the same as prevailing wisdom that diverse teams produce better results not because they share the same idea but tend toward different ones.
But that seems to be the point and it's littered with all kinds of other things that definitely do not ring true on first glance.
"You will fail if you develop a product that tries to appeal to too many users."
