Normally I'm grumpy if an "article" turns out to just be a wrapper for a video. But that "article" is mostly worthless without a video/audio file attached.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

From Ken Thompson[^] at his Turing Award Lecture in August 1984.
This short lecture (3 pages) may explain why it is virtually impossible to secure systems.
[-- Includes C code examples and is very short but the author really makes a solid point. --]
Especially interesting in this time of open-source.
Reflections on Trusting Trust[^] (acm.org is Association for Computing Machinery)
subtitle To what extent should one trust a statement that a program is free of Trojan horses. Perhaps It IS more Important to trust the people who wrote the software.

The author of the article in Inspire miscalculated. This phenomenon was predicted 116 years ago.
It just goes to show that you should never believe what you read in the newspapers.

Huh, I was going to say something snarky about being driven by the developer community, but a lot of those are actually really nice, and some I've implemented as extension methods already (the chunking and parallel async), so it's nice to see them in the framework itself.

Don't worry, the cyber-security team implemented a company wide policy stating that we're not allowed to plug personal hardware devices into the office PC USB ports - so we're protected from this kind of attack vector.

I rest my case. While Microsoft focuses on stupid $hit (like rounded icons, I refuse to click on the article about rounded sounds), their OS is move open than a, ahem, kid safe. These people have no idea what they are doing, and they have NEVER fixed the core problem. They want to be universally loved, so we get this VD related crap again and again and again. Note that this hack is with Windows 10!
I just lost another credit card. No idea how, phone lit up with fraud alerts. New card coming, but really, I suspect some back door vulnerability helped along by Microsoft.
