It doesn't matter. You can return the result set from procedure almost like you can return it from SELECT statement so wrapping the statement into procedure is ok.

What is the difference between Sql Server 2000 and Sql Server 2005
Thnx
|
|
|
|
|
One was released in 2000 and the other in 2005.
On a serious note, there are thousands of articles dedicated to this on the internet. All it needs is a simple search.

HI,
For this question please refer google because so many difference are there and i can't tell them on this forum then also i ll tell you from programmers point of view.
Error Handling :
In sqlserver 2005:
Addition of TRY/CATCH allows more mature error handling. More error_xx functions can gather additional information about errors.
In sql server 2000:
Limited to checking @@error, no much flexibility.
Language:
in sql server 2005:
All the power of SQL Server 2000 with the addition of CTEs for complex, recursive problems, enhanced TOP capabilities, PIVOT/APPLY/Ranking functions, and ROW_NUMBER.
in sql server 2000:
SQL Language enhanced from previous versions providing strong data manipulation capabilities
Hope this will help you

For starters:
SSRS
SSMS
SSIS

Are you seriously that dumb that you cannot use Google? I suggest getting away from any career using computers right now.

You ask a question to which there are many available sources of information, not least the Microsoft site which actually gives you a summary of the differences. You then complain when people suggest you look for yourself, and then further insult them when they suggest using Google.
Time you got some manners and a career change - if you cannot perform simple reasearch for yourself you will never make a decent programmer.

And what would you do without CP to do your work for you rather than buying a book or doing some basic research? Based on your attitude, good luck getting ANY help from CP again.

Hi,
I'm having problems finding out how to delete a field in a jet (Access) database via SQL code (using OleDbCommand in C# code). This field is set to Indexed=Yes (no dups).
From my research, it looks like I have to change the Indexed to 'No' before deleting the field?
I found this on the net, but if the field was created with MS Access app, I don't know the idxName to use in my SQL code.
DROP INDEX idxName ON tblCustomers
thanks for any help you can give,
Ron

I need to replicate my database in SQL Server.
So how can I do it?

Try looking in BOL for replication - its a large subject

I suggest you read BOL or get a book on SQL server management as this is not answerable in a forum post. Its the same as asking how do I set up SQL Server, answer, install it.

In crystal report, you can select the printing direction in Layout tab between "Across then Down" and "Down then Across."
For Ex:
I have a dataset with 2 column:
id Name
1 Jim
2 Jess
3 John
4 Jane
5 Joey
I want the result to print like this:
id name id name
1 Jim 2 Jess
3 John 4 Jane
5 Joey
How can i do this in local RDLC report or is it even possible?
Please help/advice. I'm really stuck on this. Thanks in advance!!!!

What an odd request, I thought so last time you asked, obviously you got no answer. I will be surprised if you get one in the SQL forum for a CR issues. However heres what I have done when CR SSRS won't do as they are told.
Try getting the result in SQL server before passing it to CR. You may be able to position the data where you want it in a sroed proc and just stick the lot into a grid type control in CR.
I presume you have tried the CR forums and support - now theres sarcasm for you.

Umm... he's not really asking how to do this in CR, I think...

He does mention CR in the OP and "local RDLC report", I have no idea what an RDCL report is and as he first asked this in the VB forum I got the idea it was a CR issue.

Let me clarify my question for you:
This option is possible to do in Crystal report where you can add another column and choose a direction to print your data (if you want the data to display across then down or down then across).
However, I did see option that you can increase the column number in SSRS when you create RDLC, but i didn't see anywhere that you can determine the printing direction and i'm just trying to find out if they have this option in SSRS (i'm trying to create a client report definition RDLC using VS2008 with C#). I thought maybe I'm looking for this option in a wrong place, since in crystal report this option seem to be out of sight too.
Also, the reason I ask this question again this forum because i thought that the reason i didn't get any response last time was maybe because i asked question in a wrong type of forum & since this is topic associate more with SSRS, I ask again in here.

Few choices come in mind:
- preorganize your data in "two columned set" before feeding it to rdlc
- add a two-column table to the rldc and in detail row create an expression for both columns. Rows in the data that have an odd row number go to the left column and rows with even row number go to the right (not sure that this is a good idea)
Hope this helps,
Mika
