Spam and Abuse Watch

• If you catch an author plagiarizing, please close the article and report and close the account, unless the author is a very active member who has otherwise behaved themselves. Here is our Plagiarism FAQ if you have any questions about what qualifies.
• Do no report users who post Press Releases, unless it is obviously unrelated material
• If you catch spam in the Message Moderation queue, please mark it as spam (rather than deleting it) so that the spam catcher can learn.
• It is OK to report abusive language as spam in the Message Moderation queue.
• In Quick Answers, please allow users to answer old questions unless they are spamming.
• If you think someone is breaking a site rule, but are uncertain, you can look at our Terms of Service
• When in doubt, ask for assistance from an admin.

• Put the name of the spammer / title of the article in the subject: This way we save time checking the messages in case of a possible repetition of the report.
• If it happens that we check a spammer account that doesn't exist anymore, edit your message to add "gone" at the end of the subject, or answer with "gone" in the subject if it is not your own report.
• If you find more articles / comments / messages from a user you are reporting, those get posted on the same thread
• Plagiarism reports should contain a link to the source being copied.
• If unsure whether to report or not, make it clear in the subject. For example, "Not sure if..." / "thoughts? Don't report yet."
• If reported in error, as for admin help.
• Final word is CP Staff.
• If you find a lot of spammers at once, format your message making blocks of five to make it easier for the next reporters and limit it to 25 or 30 per message
• If a user is reported in error, or CP Staff gives them a second chance modify the original report so that the URL to the user's account in your report is not a clickable link, only plain text.
• Some articles get "tiled" (when you go to the link it is only shown as a "there is a draft version" and you can't report it), in this case summon a Protector (look at the badge by the nickname), so they can get the link to the reportable version from the list
