Hmm, is it open source?

It is shareware though, and HD has taken the time to ask Chris if it was OK to post this. Monsieur man from Code Monte said "Yes".

I saw that post, I wasn't accusing HD of anything. I was just curious if the testers would see the code or not.

Then Hans would write an article. He's good that way.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood what you were asking. Yes, it's a shareware component, and yes, testers get the full HDSoft package; that means full source code (Win32 C++, non-MFC) is included, plus projects for VS2008, VS2010, and (maybe) VS6.
The beta is distributed on the same basis as other HDSoft components - testers can compile the component into their products, but may not distribute the source code.
Please ask here if you have more questions, or send email.

Hey everyone, I am starting to prepare myself to create W8 like applications, I have created a template with W8 colors and sizes according to the latests picture and videos.
Mareinsula W8 template I hope it helps as it helped me. Now I am creating and extracting all the WP7 resource dictionary and creating the states, controls and storyboards.

Ja ja it is true. I live (programmaticaly talking) in the end of the world. People here does not know what it is WP7, Android and with tablets say what!. I am posting in my new blog interesting things. Thank you for remembering me. I will post a complete article with the windows 8 template soon. (For WPF of course). The only thing I am lost is with the issue that WPF doesn't have projections (because is pure 3D) so the tilt and else is confusing.

Can't wait to see the css for this
I'm actually coding a WP 7 phone / W8 template as we speak, inspiraction from the Win Phone Site + W8 UI, usually white as the background and Sergoe WP font (Black DimGray etc).

I recommend you to take a look at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.0\Design
There you have the xaml in order to get easier the information for the templates that you want to create in CSS3 I guess. And I hope that the CSS3 draft grid come official some day.

Hey everyone!
I'd like to invite you to check out an open source app I've written:
It's a file explorer that runs on a browser, especially useful for anyone who has a media computer in his living room, and need a better view and navigation on his files.
Runs on .NET 4.0 and IIS Express, supports browsing through folders, opening files, quick filter, multi-column sorting, folder image view, and more... Graphics is still very basic (contributors anyone?)

Your thoughts?

If it's good enough to advertise then it's good enough to take its chances in the Articles section.

Better publish an article than a simple link here...
An article with details = respect and sharing knowledge.

Thanks guys!
I will write an article soon, I just haven't found the time for it yet, and I wanted some initial feedback.

If someone posted a message on here asking for people to come look at Website (/Product) XYZ because it needed beta testers, would that be classed as Advertising, or would that be fair play!
Thanks,

That's a tricky one, and depends largely on the mood of whoever is answering on that particular day. If it's a commercial product then it's probably going to be treated as advertising by some of the regulars, even if you only want beta testers. If you're being legit, then take the 1 votes on the chin.

Commercial is a tricky definition tho.. if its free to end users, does that make it non commercial. (there are other ways of generating revenue)
There is not much activity on this board, and maybe thats becuase of the guildeines... I mean, the title clearly states collaboration / beta testing, so I would think it should be fair to allow projects wanting beta testers, to post here.
I would also expect projects requiring beta testers to be free of cost or incentivise the testers, even though the nature of the product may become commercial.
Wanting beta testers + getting your product exposure is being legit, obviously people would want the exposure offered by this sort of forum, becuase they want to attract beta testers (to help development).. and ultimatly gain a user base. Without the exposure both the forum and its purpose are pointless.
