Hi I am trying to open a web page in a new browser window, I can easily open a page in the last used window:
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("http://www.google.com")
But I would like to have it opened in a new window.
Any suggestions?

If the page opens in the last window, in a new window or in a new tab depends on the settings in the browser.

There has got to be a way I can force it to open in a new window.

Try launching a new copy of IE with the command line parameter of the site you want to open.

Under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab. I think it's something like "Reuse windows to launch shortcuts" or something like that.

This involves writing a Photoshop plugin. Your best bet for information concerning this would be Adobe's Photoshop Developer Center[^]. You'll ned to download the SDK for the version of PS you want to develop against.
I have no samples or no idea where to start because I've never had any cause to do Photoshop development.

hi
i have downloaded sdk but i need a code for this project.
any body can help me?

Since what you're asking is so specific to Photoshop, how about going back to Adobe's developer center and then finding the link to their community boards and asking there? Like I said, that is going to be the best source of information for what you're doing. There are VERY few people who do any kind of Photoshop development around here. The chances of any of them seeing your question are very remote. Your best chance of getting any information is going to be in a place that specializes in Photoshop development. CodeProject isn't that place. If you've got specific questions about Visual Basic.NET, then this is the place to come.

Hi to everybody,
I'ld like to [de]register components in the Visual Studio.NET toolbox (both 1.1 and 2.0, if possible) by code , not by hand .
I've developed a few assemblies containing some user-controls I use in my applications (well, actually most of them are stol... ehr... copied from good ideas at CodeProject , but that's another story! ); every time I recompile the assemblies, I have to manually open a form, open the MyIncrediblyWonderfulAssemblies tab, remove old components and add new ones: more than tedious, it's prone to my personal memory leaks .
Therefore I'ld like to write a "little program" OrElse "batch script" to do this, but don't have a hint about where to start from; can someone help me?
In doubt, I thank in advance...

Trapping windows messages[^] should give you what you're looking for. You can also Google for "vb.net detect device" for more examples and discussions.

I am not using C#, and i don't know how to implement this, isn't there a way to convert this to basic language.. i really need to implement this part because it's the heart of my program..using Visual Studio 2003 Professional and creating a Visual Basic windows application...

C# is pretty easy to convert to Visual Basic.NET. All you have to do is look at any of the MSDN documentation for any class and you'll find thousands of "Rosetta Stones" showing code samples in both languages. Looking at just a few of those small examples should give you the basis for converting 95% of the C# code you see.
Another alternative is to use one of the online conversion tools, like this[^] one.
But, the bottom line is you have to study some examples of implementing something like this and write your own code, so when it breaks, you know how it works and can fix it.

running VS ( Vb.Net ) 2005
with a lot of help from various people ive managed to cobble together a very nifty vbclass. Basicly the app im writing, logs a user into a SQl server. There is a table which controls what areas of the software the user can access, once logged in they are redirected to a blank form ( mainOptions ). MainOptions call a class which adds a button to the form for every area thay are allowed in. I can using a clickhandler in the class redirect the user to the desired area ( form ) hovever i carnt close or hide the mainOptions form ......
as the class is controlling the ClickHandler and the redirect, im tried ther following
select case sender
case Area1
Dim nform as new Area1_Form
**
mainOptions.hide
**
Area1_form . showdialog
end select
ive also tried
mainOptions.close
ive even tried calling a function back on the mainOptions form to close but it wont close down any idea's
I really do need help..... all this computer stuff is way over my head !!

There isn't enough information about the code to tell you definitively, but closing a form from some class isn't a good idea unless the class that's closing the form is the one that opened it in the first place. Also, you cannot close the startup form of your project. If you do, the entire application closes with it.

First of all, let me see if I understood exactly what you meant:
You have a form, which creates a class which in turns allows areas to the current user; the form draws a button for each allowed area; when the user clicks a button on the form, there's a method which opens the desired form.
But - if I understood correctly - the current user clicks a button on the mainOptions form: this event has been redirected to a method of the class, but the button is on the mainOption form.
What I'ld do is:
- Separate logic from interface: the class should only determine if an area is allowed or not
- Don't redirect the clickhandler to the class method
- Use the standard clickhandler on the form: in his body, I'ld write few lines of code: define and create the appropriate areaForm, adding an handler for her Close event, show it, minimize the mainOption form (option B: hide it)
- in the areaForm Close event (caveat: the areaForm_Closed event in the mainOption form), I'ld maximize the mainOptions (option B: close it)
(just for clarity's sake, I baptised the mainOption form as male and the areaForm as female)
And now a final, ironical touch: all my considerations are theoretical, I haven't tried them , so there may be some buggy detail ; but the general idea should work .
Bye

Hi All,
Can anyone kindly tell me what is the meaning of below declarations:
<StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)> _
Public Structure SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DETAIL_DATA
Dim cbSize As Integer
<MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.ByValArray, SizeConst:=79)>
Dim DevicePath() As Byte
End Structure
And
Public Structure SP_DEVICE_INTERFACE_DETAIL_DATA
Dim cbSize As Integer
Dim DevicePath() As Byte
End Structure
|
|
|
|
|
The top one tells the compiler how the elements in the structure should be arranged in memory. The MarshalAs attribute tells the compiler how the DevicePath array should be stored and marshalled to unmanaged code, if necessary.
