This has come up a few times after I look at an Article and tell the OP it would be better as a Tip, and I don't know how to answer.
Is there an easy way to convert an Article to a Tip and vice versa before it is approved? Or do they have to copy and paste?

Authors should be able to it themselves by going to update their article and changing the Type from "Article" to "Tip". Please feel free to point them here:

When I upload it and the article is published (Bird, a New Optimal Language[^]), there are two file with the same name, and it writes that it has been replaced by another file, and can't download it. I tried to delete it, but doesn't worked. Is there a way to make it work? I used an external link for the last 3 previous versions.
|
|
|
|
|
I removed the link to the external file and clicked the "insert download links" button at the top of the downloads list in the editor and the link to your download was added nicely. I'll get Elina to see why the old copy of the download is still sitting there.

Thank You. When I had clicked to the link before, sometimes an empty page had appeared or file not found error.

I fixed the link to the newest source on your latest version
(Bird, a New Optimal Language
[^].
I did that by fixing the link in HTML mode.
It seems, that we have a bug in the way we insert links.
Looking into it now.
BTW, I left your article in composing status. If you want to publish it, simply uncheck the "work in progress" checkbox on article edit page.
Or, if you wish, I can change the status for you.
Sincerely,
Elina Blank

I tried the download in review mode, but it shows page not found error. Would it work in the publicated version? And there are two instances of the file, isn't it a problem?
|
|
|
|
|
Two files should not be a problem, but because of the bug (fixing it now) old version of your download appeared.
I fixed it now and you article is now published.
Please, take a look and let me know if everything is fine.
If not, we will be happy to fix it.
Sincerely,
Elina Blank

I made an update again, but the old version was downloaded and pictures wasn't shown (it worked in the preview mode, "anonymuslang\" was removed from links automatically as I see), so I made an update again and reuploaded the file, but now it doesn't download and I also couldn't fix the picture problem.
Thank you in advance for helping me.

Perhaps the wizard simply needed some encouragement. Please refresh the page - all images and downloads are working for me.

May I know what have you done? It always doesn't work fine for me even if I try everything and spend a lot of time with it.

In this case I opened the article editor and hit "publish". All the images seemed to be loaded in the editor so I did a Preview to take a peek and everything looked good.
Are you manually changing the paths on img src? What browser are you using?
I'd be happy to help update your articles if you'd prefer that.
Thanks,

I usually save it to my computer and when it's done I copy and paste it to the editor. I'm using Chrome, but haven't tried it with another yet. If this could be a problem I can try to use another for the next update. Unless it works I'll probably need help.

Copying and pasting should be fine, but when adding the images to the article (on your next attempt) try using the little arrow icon shown here:

Only carbon-dating would be trusted as giving an adequate indication. The fact that the first post is from the start of the previous century only suggests that there was no internet before that post.

Hi editor,
I was editing the article below when I noticed that there were 2 source.zip which are dated 3rd May 2012 and 1st Oct 2008. Because the online editor does not allow me to update the article due to an unknown key collision, I proceeded to delete the source.zip dated 3rd May 2012 which is not uploaded by me, the online editor deleted the the source.zip dated 1st Oct 2008 as well. Is that any way to retrieve back my source code download? I do not have the source code on my new PC and the same article on Codeguru does not have the source code download as well (encounter 404).
Use STA COM Objects Asynchronously[^]
Is it possible for CodeProject to consider an upgrade to the online editor that article downloads are also versioned, not just the article contents?

I've restored the download and I'll look to see what happened with that error (I can see the error in our logs - so should be a quick fix)
