Can you tell me, are you opening every page in a new window ?
|
|
|
|
|
the scenario is like this.
i have a like on a page that opens up a popup window with another link when i click on that link another page opens in the same popup window with a back button. when i m clicking on back button it doesn't take me to the previous page.
(Normal Window)Page1->(PopupWindow)Page2->Page3(with Back Button). Now when i m clicking on the back button present on Page3 it doesn't take me to the Page2.
I have checked the window.history.length it comes zero.

Actually there is no way to add anything in browser cache. Even if you do, it will not work. Actually it automatically puts to browser history each page when navigates.
To put in browser history, always use <a href=""> or use location.href
dont do it using javascript.
Also if you dont want the browser to hold the current page, you need to use history.replace with the same url so that it replaces the current page with the one in history.
In your case, just change the control which navigates to the 2nd page to anchor(<a>) and I think it will start working.

You can use the Directory and DirectoryInfo classes to iterate through the contents of a folder and its sub folders.
Be warned that you'll only be able to access the server's file system and not the clients' and it is not a good practice to show the server's file system on a web application. It is also a very high security risk.

Hi,
I am working Asp.net gridview. I bind data to this gridview dynamically. I have 5 columns in my gridview. Now I want to display a new column in the gridview which displays the difference of the 3rd and 4th columns i.e.,(Column6= Column3-Column4). Can we do this directly in a gridview to display this result.
If anyone have any idea to do this please reply me.
Thanks in advance.

This can be done on the datasource and on the gridview.
DataSource - Just add another column to your grid view and store the calculated value for each row. Do this before you bind the data.
GridView - Just add a template column and use the expression evaluator <%# %> to calculate and bind the data at runtime.

Apart from other two solution posted,
you can also do it in RowDataBound Event.
code will go something like this:
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if(e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header)
{
TableHeaderCell cell = new TableHeaderCell();
cell.Text = "Column 6 Name";
e.Row.Cells.Add(cell);
}
else if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
TableCell cell = new TableCell();
decimal result = Convert.ToDecimal(e.Row.Cells[2].Text) - Convert.ToDecimal(e.Row.Cells[3].Text);
cell.Text = result.ToString();
e.Row.Cells.Add(cell);
}
else
{
TableCell cell = new TableCell();
e.Row.Cells.Add(cell);
}
}

Hi there,
Has any one used the validation application block before? What are your experiences with it, good or bad? Is it worthwhile to use?
I want to check that a value is greater than 0, what validator technique would I use for this? Lets say I want to validate that my product identifier property must always be a positive value, that is, greater than 0. How would I do this?
Regards,
Brendan

Hi ,
Please help me.I used a javascript method to run my aspx page for edit.It is working fine in my local machine .But when the build is up on the server , it is showing error and we are totally unable to go to that page.Here is the javascript I used.
var id=param.id;
var url="EditUserDetail.aspx?id="+id;
//window.location=url;
window.open(url,"_blank","toolbar=no, location=yes, directories=no, status=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=no, resizable=no, copyhistory=yes, width=850, height=500");
and the error showing when it run in the server is ,
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
With warm regards

You can enable the same to check what actually happening over there. I guess the may be some problem in EditUserDetail.aspx page

There seems to be an error is occuring when the page loads ,
do you have any kind of Error Log for your application ?
If any error log is there then you can get what exactly is the error .
or change the web config as directed and then check
