I'm a Bachelor of Commerce graduate, fell inlove with ICT years back with VB5. Used Pick & System Builder to create a windows app. Very curious, developed my first web database app called Project.Show using ExtJS. Published on Google Play Store, learned JQuery Mobile, a project manager at best. My first intranet app eFas with MySQL.

Fear closes people to a lot of things and we hold ourselves back being held by it. Thus the sooner you believe you can't do something, the sooner everything will work towards that belief. Believe in yourself at all times because you can do anything you set your mind to it!

I have a very beautiful woman and four kids, the best joys in the world. East London, South Africa is currently home.

I am a Sr Engineer for a major security firm; I have been developing software professionally for 8 years now; I've worked for start ups, small companies, large companies, myself, education. Currently the company I work for has 7,000+ employees worldwide. I am responsible for our platform security, I write code, implement features, educate other engineers about security, I perform security reviews, threat modeling, continue to educate myself on the latest software. By night, I actively work to educate other developers about security and security issues. I also founded a local chapter of OWASP which I organize and run.

I cut my teeth developing in C++ and it's still where my heart is with development, lately I've been writing a lot of C# code & some java, but I do have a project or two coming out in C++ /DiectX 11 whenever I get the time.

When I am not developing code I am spending my time with my wife and daughter or I am lost deep in the woods some where on a camping trip with friends. If you can't find me with a GPS and a SPOT device then chances are I am on the Rugby pitch playing Rugby and having a great time doing so.

Frauke's love affair with computers started by drooling over the sheer awesomeness of a ZX81 when she was a child. Since then she has owned a Commodore 128, an Amiga, an Acorn RISC PC (would you believe it) and an assortment of more mainstream laptops and PCs.

Her love of computers and technology in general led her to obtain two Bachelor's degrees in engineering. She has worked both as a hardware and a software engineer, and has been the managing director of her own IT consultancy, Creative Cats, for 15 years now. She helps small businesses and entrepreneurs with their IT needs, providing hands-on support where needed and training where required.

She loves being asked why she decided to become an engineer.

To be able to go out wearing a red shirt and survive, of course.
