Hello,

I am interested in business and programming. I am just starting to learn to programming languages and wanted to know which one has the most potential for a venture/startup. I will then learn the languages and possibly get a job before starting my own company(for understanding purposes). I know that swift, objective c and c++ have venture potential. For example, IMVU was created using c++. This is the type of thing im talking about. The problem is I am new to programming and only know what a few languages do and everything is very confusing. If you could suggest a language, tell me how it has potential, and what the language does that would be very nice. This is my first post so i am sorry if I made this in a wrong spot or if my explanations sound off.

Thank you,

This isn't a question we can answer: all languages have "venture potential" - it depends what kind of market you are going into, what kind of products you are going to produce.
For example, PHP works for websites, C++ doesn't. C++ works for native PC apps, but C# doesn't. C# can be used on PC, Android, iOS, and websites but Objective C is Apple only. Java is good for Android, but can (just, if your users don't complain about frequent and annoying updates) be used on PC.

For any given platform, there will a half a dozen or more (generally a lot more) different languages you could use.

Instead of planning to learn a language and then plan to build a company around it, consider the market of the company first and then work out what languages fit the products.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the ignorant question

It's not an "ignorant question" - it's just not one that has a simple "this one / that one" answer - and more than a question "which car should I buy?" does!
With a car you have a huge range of manufacturers, each with a huge range of models, some of which are suitable for your needs, and some which aren't. For example, if you want to commute into the centre of Toronto each day, then a Lamborghini is probably not a good choice! But if you want to regularly deliver parcels into the middle of nowhere, then a Fiat 500 is going to have problems...
Software is the same: horses for courses, as they say...
